We Build More Living Into Life

The Crutch Foundation

At The Crutch Foundation, our goal is to help American families and individuals live longer, healthier, and more independent lives in their own homes.

By providing affordable energy-efficient upgrades, accessibility modifications, renovations, and building maintenance, we ensure people and families remain safe and secure in their own homes, which are made affordable, accessible, safe and energy efficient for every stage of life.

Evolving Homes

Your home should change with you and suit every stage of your life.
By 2030 (four years from now), ALL Baby Boomers will be 65 years or older.

To maintain independence for yourself, parents and friends, we must start modifying and safeguarding homes now.

We believe every family deserves dignity, security, and hope in the place they call home.

Since so many American nonprofits already use their resources advancing this mission in foreign countries, our goal will be to always help the forgotten Americans, right here in The United States.

The need in the U.S. is much greater than most would expect.

In The Beginning...

The Crutch Foundation was born from a deep sense of compassion and necessity.

In the early 1980s, after earning my EMT certification at Queens Community College and receiving further training from the Auxiliary Rescue division of the NYC Police Department, I served as a Tech and Driver on a NYC Ambulance.

Working in upper Manhattan and the Bronx allowed me to witness firsthand how health challenges, accidents, and financial hardship could threaten families and their homes.

Everyday, tens of thousands of people find themselves trapped in homes that once were secure and nurturing – only to lose them in times of crisis.

Premature placements in nursing homes or shelters and the splitting up of families is too common today, as it was then, with some families never able to reunite.

Hitting the wall

Some years later, my wife Ivette and I moved our family to Pennsylvania and joined a local church.

It wasn’t long before we noticed members gradually disappearing from regular attendance.

Reaching out, we discovered these new friends were living in homes that were becoming dangerous to them.

While their minds were sharp as tacks, their bodies were having a hard time keeping up.

They needed handrails, ramps and ADA improvements to extend the useful lives of their homes, not themselves.

For someone living on a modest fixed income, not paired with inflation, most life-enhancing improvements are beyond reach for them.

Financial Strain

With our small family construction company, we tried helping those who couldn’t afford important repairs and maintenance, but this led to an unsustainable financial strain for us.

The knee jerk reaction of some banks and other sharks is to feast on the misery of people as they gobble up family legacies, destroying generational wealth.

Most banks will foreclose a family’s home, selling them for pennies on the dollar, rather than restructuring mortgages that allow people to get back on their feet.

Through the years

Watching my own parents suffer similar struggles, only strengthened my conviction: “Someone should be doing something to help people hitting these walls in life”.

We the people seem conditioned to wait for government intervention, and then we are disappointed by waste, fraud and abuse.

So, after years of watching homeowners (people and families) broken up, with no real safety net, it became obvious no one was coming.

Hopefully you will never need to know, but – Who will be there for you or your family?

James 4:17 (KJV) says “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”

In other words – If you know how to help, you should.

My family and I realized we had talents, skills and resolve that made us uniquely qualified to accept this challenge, so we did.

As a family we formed The Crutch Foundation for the benefit of other families right here in the USA.

It’s a foundation built on faith, skill, and love for families who deserve dignity and security in their own homes.

The Crutch Foundation is a family-led nonprofit built on decades of experience in construction, restoration, and service.

Why does It matter?

Because Many families cannot afford crucial repairs or upgrades that will save their homes and families

For many families, essential repairs and upgrades are simply out of reach.

Minor improvements, like fixing a roof, adding handrails, or making ADA modifications, can determine whether a family keeps or loses their home.

Each project is a step towards a more compassionate, sustainable, and secure future for American families.

When corporations profit from family hardships, homes become less available to families. This narrows opportunities for homeownership and undermines community stability.

In 2023, investors bought approximately 18% of all homes sold in the U.S., often converting them to rentals.

Foreclosures contributed an additional 300,000 to home losses, many of which were taken by investors.

A Renters State

Continuing along this path, we will be a nation of renters by 2055. Quickening this pace by just 1%, will make us a renter’s state in 15 years.

Property ownership is a natural right, essential for liberty, self-reliance, and protection against tyranny.

Behind the statistics are families fighting to hold onto their homes

At the current pace, America will become a renters nation within 30 years—or sooner.

Even small upgrades can help keep families safe, rooted, and independent in their own homes

Private Ownership

Private Ownership is Crucial

Ownership fosters economic stability, civic virtue, and independence.

That’s why it’s so important for our government to protect everyone’s property rights.

This means making sure people are treated fairly in the legal process and are paid fairly if their property is taken.

Private ownership ensures no single group gains too much power or control—helping prevent a return to unfair systems like feudalism.

We will continue reflecting on this vital subject as we grow.
